BODY BUILD: Tall and thin. He stands at a tall 6'2 for his age, having recently suffered his growth spurt. He has always been sort of scraggly and scruffy, with circles under his eyes and a very thin body. He never has any extra bulk in the shape of flab or muscle, and will often dawn layers to hide his nearly unhealthy build and prevent suspicion and concern. PIERCINGS: nadda TATTOOS: nadda DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: His thin face. Remus always looks slightly unhealthy, with sallow cheeks and dark circles under his eyes. His face is very pale, and slightly gray around full moon. PLAY BY: Skander Keynes
Personality LIKES: Wormtail Duh
Padfoot Duh
Prongs Duh
Any day that isn't a full Need I duh you?
Defense against the dark arts It's always been his strongest subject. Because he suffered a period of self-loathing, he now feels the need to be able to fight the evil and the monster that is himself, and to be able to protect others from it.
Mint It tastes good.
Being 'normal' Some days, when the sun is out and he's nothing better to do then lounge by the lake with his best marauder friends, he can forget, if even for a second, what he is and why he hates it. He savors those times. DISLIKES: His furry little problem Duh
Full moons Duh
Being dangerous and out of control His worst fear. The idea that he turns into the monster he hates can make him physically ill in self disgust.
Sltherins He holds the general Gryffindor bias against them, and despises the lack of self discipline and respect they show.
Show-offs They're downright obnoxious. That that he ever says anything about it. Oh, and James is the exception.
fighting Because he deplores harm in any form and embodies it once in a full moon, he avoids it at all costs any other time.
Unnecessary cruelty See above STRENGTHS: Defense against the dark arts It's always been his strongest subject. Because he suffered a period of self-loathing, he now feels the need to be able to fight the evil and the monster that is himself, and to be able to protect others from it.
Transfiguration He became an expert in it when he and his best friends decided to become entrepreneurs in that field.
His mind Remus is very intelligent, but he doesn't show it. Mind over matter, brains over bronze. Always.
Keeping his temper in check Again, with the harm thing. He doesn't want to pass evil or anger on to anyone else whenever possible, and over the years he has strengthened his self discipline immensely.
Keeping cool under pressure See above WEAKNESSES: Charms They're fun and all, but he masters in subjects of more general importance.
Herbology See above
Again. His furry little problem. Duh His lack of ability to follow the rules He tries to be a good student, he really does. But duty will call in the form of Sirius Black passing him a note in Dinvenation telling him to meet the rest of the gang outside the kitchens at two o clock that night.
Pumpkin muffins. Can't be beat. His biggest weakness. Yum yum. BOGGART: A full moon DEMENTOR: The night he was changed. The memory of himself as a young child wandering out into the woods, running from the monster and screaming for his mum and dad before being changed haunts him every single day. AMORTENTIA: Mint Spices Butterscotch Fresh grass SECRETS: Need I say it again? His furry little problem. SIGNIFICANT MEMORIES: His first changing His first midnight romp with the animagus marauders QUIRKS AND HABITS: Chews on bottom lip when nervous Can't hold his gaze with another's for too long Shaking his head when distracted HOBBIES AND PASTIMES: Marauding, babee. Plain and simple. PERSONALITY ESSAY: Remus is an enigma, plain and simple. He's not wrapped in anything, though. He's as lame as enigmas come, something he has always secretly hated.
Remus is the strong silent type, always having preferred words over action when it comes to anger and disagreements. He deplores violence in any form thanks to the monster that is himself, and his years of solitude as a child have left him a naturally very quiet person. He is perfectly happy alone with his thoughts.
Because of such, Remus is very thoughtful and intelligent, though barely ever showing it. He is a troubled genius, whose words are always thought through twice over before spoken. He tries to be a good student, but most of the time just over thinks things, and ends up looking like a dork.
Inevitably, Remus is a cynic without realizing it. His werewolf side has left him that way irrevocably, and he has trouble trying to look on the bright side of life. The fellow marauders bring him as close as he can get to that outlook. SIBLING(S)'S NAME(S) AND AGE(S): SIBLING(S)'S OCCUPATION(S): PETS: A squash-faced, three-legged cat named Cedric OTHER IMPORTANT RELATIVES: His grandparents HISTORY ESSAY: Remus John Lupin was born the evening of the twenty-seventh, the first and last child to John and Leslie. Any fears that he would inherit his grandmother's muggle genes were laid to rest soon after his first birthday, his unusual intelligence and bright behavior a shining beacon to his parents.
Aside from his prematurely matured brain, Remus was a very normal child. Adventurous, thrill-seeking and curious, his parents wanted nothing more than to allow his mind to wander and grow, and therefore gave him a very long leash to grow up on. He loved playing in the woods by their house, and they took the naiive stance and decided it was the safest place for a boy to grow up in. What dangers could a small woods on the edge of town hold?
At the age of eight, a garden party supper held by his mother for his grandparents bore him, and he was allowed to go kill some time afterward in the woods before dessert. He splashed through the creek and climbed through the trees, meandering down a path he hadn't tried before. It was getting dark, and he soon decided to head back home. The full moon wasn't enough adequate lighting. And the intimidating crackling coming from the distance was more than enough motivation.
The monster was on top of him before he had a chance to scream.
Fenir Greyback was turned, and hungry. The boy was less than a quarter of his changed size, and there was no way he had a chance. His screams echoed out to the trees edges, and his parents were there before the wolf had a chance to finish Remus off. John and Leslie knew what happened, though, and what their son had become.
For the next year, he was hidden from the world. If friends and neighbors noted the absence, Leslie and John spun a tale of their son living in Romania for the year with relatives to study exotic beasts. Remus himself barely ever left the house by choice, only when the full moon rose and he was left in the middle of the wood by his parents, only to stumble back a day or two later in tatters. It was the only system that worked.
His monthly changings were a part of life, no matter how he tried to reject them. They were an excruciatingly painful experience for the first few years, but slowly, he learned to appreciate the process as much as possible. It was the only thing he could do to not want to annihilate himself.
His parents feared the thought of letting him go away to school. They debated for a year what to do, and eventually contacted the headmaster for some enlightenment. It took some doing, but he reassured the two enough so to allow their son off to school.
He felt outcast, at first. It was of his own doing; he feared becoming close to anyone, because he feared the monster might hurt someone he loved. But eventually, he met a group of Gryffindors that made him want to forget. Made him want to stop alienating himself, if only for a minute. They were the only ones he ever spoke his secret to, and they seemed more than happy to have an excuse for running around at midnight. Welcome to YLS!You have been accepted as a Gryffindor!Hi and welcome to YLS. Now that you have been accepted you can head over to the OOC board and introduce yourself. Or, you can just pop in the cbox, we all love to have a good chat.
You can get your character into the game by checking out the Uber Plotting board and posting up a thread. Let us know if your character is looking for friends or enemies...or anything else. Even more than a good chat we love a good storyline.
In the Character Extras board you can check out the sub-boards. These aren't required, but they're kind of fun. You can make a relationship thread, a scrapbook, and a journal/diary for your character.
Have fun and start posting!~YLS StaffersP.S. Your app is VERY good, really! And if your IC posting is better...then I'm uber glad you're here cause I do like someone who is fun and easy to post with. I think you'll be both and a great addition to our little marauding quartet. James really disliked me calling them a quartet --Bethany
